Winfred Holt

Winfred Herschel Holt, age 90 of Farlinville, Kansas died Sunday May 30, 2010 at the Prescott Country View Nursing Home at Prescott, Kansas. He was born on May 1, 1920 at Farlinville, Kansas the son of George and Mary Norris Holt. Winfred was a WWII veteran serving his country with the Untied States Army. He married Maxine Harold on September 10, 1941 at Mound City Kansas. He was a farmer and worked for the Linn County Road Department as a Foreman for 38 years in the Mound City, Parker, and LaCygne district. He was a member of the Mound City Federated Church, and the American Legion Hewitt New Post #248 for over 50 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother; Roy Joe Holt Sr., two grandchildren; Tara and Kara, and one great grandchild. Survivors include his wife Maxine of Mound City, Kansas, two sons; Larry Holt and wife Linda Kay of Mound City, Kansas, and Bruce Holt and wife Meg of LaCygne, Kansas, a daughter; Minnie Lou Allen and husband Ottis of Fort Scott, Kansas, five grandchildren Kirk Holt, Kris Holt, Krag Holt, Adam Holt, and Mandy Higgins, and 8 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 10:30 am Friday June 4, 2010 at the Coffel-Schneider Funeral Home Mound City, Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8:00 PM Thursday June 3, 2010 at the Coffel-Schneider Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Woodland Cemetery at Mound City Kansas. The family suggests contributions to the Prescott Country View Nursing Home.
