Wilma Claar

Wilma Mae Claar, age 83 of LaCygne, Kansas died Sunday March 1, 2009 at the Olathe Medical Center. She was born July 24, 1925 in Kenneth, Kansas the daughter of Ralph Emerson and Edith Mae Dunham Eastland. Wilma married Harold Banks Claar on September 29, 1945 in Morse, Kansas. He preceded her in death on May 12, 1994. Wilma worked as a clerk in the Shawnee Post Office, as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell, and a book keeper for the First Bank of Olathe. She was a member of the LaCygne United Methodist Church and UMW where she was a former Sunday school teacher. She was a member of The Lacygne Lions Club, Star Valley Club, Garden Club, and a former Girl Scout Leader. Survivors include four sons: Richard Allen Claar and wife Judy of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Roger Emerson Claar and wife Vickie of Shawnee, Kansas, Ronald Eugene Claar and wife Bonnie of Spring Hill, Kansas, Russell Zarl Claar and wife Carmine of LaCygne, Kansas, two daughters: Ruth Anna Hurt and husband James of Louisburg, Kansas, Rhonda Elaine Matthews of LaCygne, Kansas, a sister Lois Jensen and husband George of Gardner, Kansas, twenty grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday March 5, 2009 at the United Methodist Church in LaCygne, Kansas. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday at the Coffel-Schneider Funeral Home in LaCygne, Kansas. Burial will be in the Johnson County Memorial Garden.
