Walter Eugene Stanbrough, age 77, of Mound City, Kansas passed away Saturday February 23, 2008 at the Olathe Medical Center in Olathe, Kansas. Eugene was born on February 28, 1930 in Coyle, Oklahoma, the son of Elwood and Armintha Towle Stanbrough. He married Charlene Ann Clark on May 5, 1951 in Huntsville Arkansas. He was in the National Guard for three years, and served four years in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. After serving our country, Eugene worked in real estate, was the Managing Partner of the Pleasanton Mill and Elevator and was a farmer and stockman. Most importantly, he was a loving husband and father. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Lloyd Stanbrough, and one sister, Ruth Harlow. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Charlene, two sons, Robert E. Stanbrough of Ottawa, Kansas Kevin Stanbrough and wife Mary of Mound City, one daughter, Marita Vogrin, of Colorado Springs Colorado, two sisters, Vera Murray of Mound City and Shirley Stanbrough of Kansas City, Missouri, a special sister Shirley Clark of Dallas, Texas, and five grandchildren, Rachael, Jacob, Anna, Garrett and Peter. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at the Mound City United Methodist Church. Private inurnment will be at the Prescott, Kansas Cemetery.
