Walter Alexander Golladay of LaCygne, KS, passed away at his home on Sunday September 25th, at the age of 67 after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Alex was born in Jackson County, Missouri on November 3, 1943 to parents Rachel and Walter Golladay. He graduated from high school in Fontana, Kansas in 1961 and got his Bachelor's degree in business from Pittsburg State University in 1965. He went on to get his Masters degree from Pittsburg State University also. He enjoyed working as a Business/Accounting teacher in Louisburg, Kansas and as a High School Counselor at Prairie View High School. He also loved to spend time on his farm raising his cattle and growing crops. After retiring from education he became a successful businessman running a personal home business and owning multiple rental properties. Alex was the type of guy that never sat still for long, he had many hobbies which included being a licensed pilot, being an actor in the local Osawatomie Plays, rafting the Colorado river and skydiving just to name a few. He also enjoyed many ski trips to Colorado with family and traveling to places such as Cancun ,Hawaii and Alaska with his wife Barbara. He was a patron of his community by serving on the Prairie View School Board, announcing the high school football games, and was also a member of the Masonic Lodge. He is survived by his wife Barbara Golladay of La Cygne, his daughter Tammy Kirk of Pittsburg Texas and her husband Ben and children Faith and Kolby, his son Todd Golladay of LibertyMissouri and his wife Sarah and children Caleb and Samuel, his son Jess Neal of Lubbock Texas and his wife Debbie and children Hannah, Ty, and Lukas, his daughter Heidi Wade of Prescott Kansas, and her husband Roy and children Bowen, Jude, Ren and Josie. He was preceded in death by his infant sister Marjorie Maxine Golladay, his mother Rachael Maxine Golladay, his father Walter Alexander Golladay Sr., his son Jacob Mac Neal, his grandchildren Skylar Neal and Nicholas Golladay. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Thursday, September 29, 2011 at the LaCygne United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Sunny Slope Cemetery, Blue Mound, Kansas. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM Wednesday at the Coffel-Schneider Funeral Home, LaCygne, Kansas.
