Virgil Robert Lawrence, 71, of LaCygne, KS died Sunday, January 15, 2006 at his home near LaCygne. He was born July 5, 1934 in Jasper County, Missouri, the son of Merwin and Cecil Hoback Lawrence. He graduated from Stilwell high School in 1953. He was a veteran of the United States Military serving with the 6th Transportation Helicopter Company. He married Dona Dailey on April 14, 1956 at Wea, Kansas. he worked for Johnson County Wastewater for nearly 43 years. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in LaCygne, KS, Water & Environmental Association, the NRA and several square dance clubs including: Frontier Twirlers, Hicks & Chicks, J Bar N's, Silver Shoes, Kountry Kut Ups, and the B & R's. He also served as a delegate to the Heart of America Square Dance Foundation. He is surved by his wife, Donna of the home; three sons; Robert Lawrence and Cathy and Lawrence and Melissa, all of Olathe, Kansas and Tim Lawrence and Julie of Overland Park, Kansas; three daughters, Marianna Coleman and Robert of Blue Springs, Missouri, Loretta Bills and David and Nedra Irvin and Greg, all of Louisburg, Kansas; one sister, Faye Lee of Eatonville, Washington and 12 grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, January 20, 2006 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mound City, KS. Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8:00 PM at the Coffel-Schneider Chapel, LaCygne, KS. The family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society or Olathe Hospice.
