Virgil Bruner, age 75, of Mound City, Kansas died Friday September 28, 2007 at his home in Mound City. He was born on December 15, 1931 in Fort Scott, Kansas the son of Walter E. and Agnes M. Mackie Bruner. He graduated from Blue Mound High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean Conflict. Virgil married Freda Mathews on June 10, 1956 at the Centerville Methodist Church. To this union three children were born. He was a member of the American Legion Hewitt New Post # 248 at Mound City. Virgil enjoyed fishing and gardening. Before retirement, Virgil was a truck driver for the Linn County Road Crew. He is survived by his wife Freda of the home, two sons Vance Bruner and wife Debra of Mound City, Van Bruner and wife Chilesa of Mound City, one daughter Vicki Jolene Bruner of Pleasanton, Kansas, two brothers Willard and Joe Bruner both of Fort Scott, Kansas, five sisters, Lorraine Wilcox of Paola, Kansas, Venita Miller of Kincaid, Kansas, Leora Ross of Mildred, Kansas, Marilyn Bruner of Fort Scott, Kansas and Shirley Ball of Garnett, Kansas, and six grandchildren: Daniel Bruner, Craig Bradley, Jami Bruner, Madison Bruner, Brock Bruner and Sirena Bruner. He was preceded in death by two sisters Pauline and Marian. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Monday October 1, 2007 at the Coffel-Schneider Funeral Home in Mound City, Kansas. Burial will be in the Woodland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 PM Sunday at the Coffel-Schneider Funeral Home.
