Shirley Simpson

Shirley June Simpson, 72, Blue Mound, Kansas died Friday May 4. She was born November 20, 1934 in Cresent Lake, Missouri the daughter of Edgar and Gertrude Chaney Denton. This union ended and Shirley was raised by her mother and second father Edward Shields. She graduated from Wyandotte High School and attended nursing school at AVTS. She married Chuck Simpson on January 11, 1953. She worked as a nurse at Bethany Medical Center until retirement in 2000. She is survived by her husband Chuck, children: 1) Charles Simpson Jr and Nancy, 2) Janis Castle and Forest "Scott", 3) Patricia Farr and Tim, 4) Debra Mott and John, 5) Diana Brockman and Bill Shrum, 6) Karen Weber and Tom Davis, 7) Jerry Simpson, 8) Richard Simpson and Pamela, 9) Carol Simpson, 10) Kevin Simpson and Christine, a brother Eugene Denton, twenty-four grandchildren and thirty-five great grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 AM Thursday May 10, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Kansas City, Kansas. Burial will be in the Gates of Heaven. Visitation will from 9:30 until service time at the church. A prayer service will be held Wednesday May 9, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mound City, Kansas at 6:30 PM. Visitation will follow in the parish hall. The family suggests contributions to Harry Hines Hospice, Sacred Heart or Blessed Sacrament.
