Sammy Boyd

Sammy Joseph Boyd, 75, of Pleasanton, Kansas, died Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at Truman Medical Center East, Kansas City, Missouri. He was born February 1, 1932 in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Samuel and Nadine Bennett Boyd. He married Joerene Cole who preceded him in death in 2005. Sammy had worked as a Pipefitter and was a member of the Pipefitter's Union and the American Legion. He served with the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Survivors include two daughters; Beverly Moreels of Blue Springs, Missouri and Tamera Goodman of Overland Park, Kansas; one brother, Duey Wayne Lucas; three sisters, Patty Saturn, Dee Terry and Shirley Clinton; two grandchildren, Lindsay Goodman and Amy Boyd and two great grandchildren, Samantha Smith and Alexandria Gaume. Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 22, 2007 at the Coffel-Schneider Chapel, Pleasanton, Kansas. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:00 PM, Friday at the chapel. Contributions are suggested to the American Heart Association. Interment will be in the Trading Post Cemetery, Pleasanton, Kansas.
