Ruby Bernadine Turpen, 83, of Bucyrus, Kansas, formerly of Pleasanton, Kansas, died Saturday, June 5, 2010 at Manor Care, Overland Park, Kansas. She was born March 18, 1927 in Amsterdam, Missouri, the daughter of Glenn and Loretta Walker McBride. She was a 1945 graduate of Amsterdam High School. On June 1, 1945, she was united it marriage to Elonzo "Lonnie" Turpen. He preceded her in death on September 11, 2005. Ruby worked as a telephone operator in Pleasanton, prior to her retirement. She was preceded in death also by a son, Glenn Turpen, a brother, Glenn McBride Jr.; two sisters, Mary Louise McBride and Marguerite Simmons and one step great grandchild. Survivors include two sons; Jimmy Turpen and Mary of Joplin, Missouri and Robert Turpen and Charla of West Plains, Missouri; one sister, Maxine Morrison and Garland of Drexel, Missouri; eight grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren; two step grandchildren and one step great grandchild. Services will be held at 11:30 AM, Friday, June 11, 2010 at the Coffel-Schneider Chapel, Pleasanton, Kansas. Visitation will be from 10:30 until service time.
