Ruby Singmaster

Ruby Joan Singmaster, age 75, Fort Scott, Kansas died Thursday August 11, 2011 at the Mercy Health Center in Fort Scott, Kansas. She was born on August 25, 1935 at Pleasanton, Kansas the daughter of Hughie U. and Margaret E. Norbury Black. She graduated from Pleasanton High School and worked at the Bank of Pleasanton for many years before retiring. She was married to Jack Graves and to this union two children were born, Jeff & Jacqueline. She later married Robert Singmaster on August 20, 1987. He preceded her in death on November 3, 2000. She was a member of the Community Christian Church and was involved in the Women's Bible Study. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary. She was preceded in death also by her parents, and a brother Fred Black. She is survived by her son Jeff Graves of Lake Wales, Florida, daughter Jacki Long of Lansing, Kansas, a sister Carolyn Black of Mound City, Kansas, grandson Nick Long and wife Ashley, granddaughter Ashley Whelpeley, husband Kyle and son Brody, and nieces Carla Slaughter and Cathy Hoover, and almost son Eddy Staton. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Wednesday August 17, 2011 at the Community Christian Church in Fort Scott, Kansas. Burial will be in the Hume Cemetery. No formal visitation will be held. Joan will lie in state all day Tuesday at the Coffel-Schneider Funeral Home in Pleasanton, Kansas.
