Robert Miller

Robert Miller of Linn Valley, KS was born November 10, 1930 near Garnett, KS, the youngest of 6 children. He passed away following a long illness on August 11, 2005. He was the son of Frank and Hazel Williamson Miller. Bob lived in and around Garnett most of his life graduating from Garnett High School in 1948. He enlisted in the Army in 1951 and served in the Korean War. He married Lois Fessler in 1952. To this union were born 4 sons; Steve, David, Dennis and Dan. He retired from Kansas City Power & Light in 1992 moving to Linn Valley Lakes. The Garnett First Baptist Church licensed him as a minister and He followed a course of study in the Baptist Lay Minister Program. He was the pastor of the United Brethren in Christ Church of Garnett for several years. He served as the first full time resident pastor of the Linn Valley Community Church. He also filled the pulpit as a supply Pastor many times. Preceding him in death were his parents, Frank & Hazel Miller, two brothers and their wives, Russell & Nadine Miller, Ernest & Nellie Miller, and one sister, Laura Smith & her husband, Jack. He is survived by his wife, Lois of the home, four sons, Steve Miller & wife, Sandy of Grass Valley, CA, grandsons, Michael Wilkens & wife Erika and great grandson Stephen, of Huntington Beach, CA, granddaughter Jennifer Thomas & husband, Cecil and great granddaughter, Kaitlyn of Yuba City, CA, Brian Miller & Misty Davis of Austin Texas, David Miller & wife, Beverly, grandson, Matt & granddaughter Stacy of Camden, AR, Dennis Miller of Corpus Christi, TX & granddaughter, Danielle of Texas, Dan Miller & Wife, Shellie, grandsons, Will & Wes of Linn Valley, KS, two brothers, Frank Miller & wife, Lois, Melvin Miller & wife, Ilena, all of Garnett, KS, brother-in-law, Dean Fessler of Lillian, TX; many nieces & nephews also great nieces & great nephews. Funeral services were held at 7:30 PM, Tuesday, July 26, 2005 at the Coffel-Schneider Chapel, Pleasanton, KS. The family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society.
