Robert Long

Robert L. Long, age 82 of LaCygne, Kansas passed away Monday, January 29, 2007 at Mercy Health Center, Fort Scott, Kansas. Robert was born March 15, 1924 in Miami County, Kansas the son of Donald L. and Edna Viola LaResh Long. He served in the Navy during World War II and worked as a farmer in the Miami and Linn County areas most of his life. He married Donah Conard on June 10, 1945 in San Diego, California and two children were born to this union. He was a former member of the American Legion. Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Donah on February 24, 2001 and a grandchild Julie Ann Ireland on August 14, 1996. He is survived by a son Robert A. Long, one daughter Cheryl Ireland and husband Archie all of LaCygne, Kansas; two brothers Paul Long of Mound City, Kansas and Donald Long of LaCygne, Kansas; two sisters, Ruth York of LaCygne, Kansas and Carol Heald of New Lancaster, Kansas; one granddaughter Amy Nelson and husband Steve; one great grandson Ryan Christopher Nelson. Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Thursday, February 1, 2007 at the LaCygne Christian Church. Visitation will be from 10 A.M. until service time at the church. Burial will be at the Oak Lawn Cemetery, LaCygne, Kansas. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.coffelschneider.com.
