Robert Rosco "Bobby" Arnold, 71, of Fort Scott, Kansas, died at St. Luke''s Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri on Friday, April 18 2014. Bobby was born March 10, 1943 in Pleasanton, Kansas to Phillip and Glesner (Pruitt) Arnold. Bobby grew up on the family farm and he was always willing to sit and visit about his life there. He especially loved talking about the cattle and tractors and would visit at length, discussing both. He loved telling others about his travels and all the cattle he had in the pasture or sold at the sale barn. Sometimes when you were talking to Bobby he could spin up such a story that he left his audience wondering how much of that story was really true. Bobby always dressed the part of the framer/rancher, wearing his beloved cowboy boots and hat. Bobby wouldn''t have looked the same dressed any other way. In later years, Bobby moved to Fort Scott with his mother and on May 1, 1995, Bobby became part of the Tri-Valley Day Services. In the fall of 1995 Bobby moved into the residential program. On May 26, 2002 Bobby married Martha Spurling. She preceded him in death. Survivors include two uncles, Emory Arnold of Fort Scott and Glenn Arnold of Pleasanton, several cousins, and a host of friends he has charmed over the years with his out going personality and quick wit. Bobby enjoyed Special Olympics, bowling, dances, parties, times at the park, movies, games, and trips to Topeka. He was very fond of cats and dogs. He easily made friends with both when he was around them. Bobby had good attendance at Tri-Valley. Bobby liked doing any this with his hands. Give him a screwdriver and other tools and he was happy. He enjoyed working in the Tri-Valley Greenhouse. Perhaps Bobby favorite pastime was setting outside his home with his three friends watching the pretty girls drive by. His smiling face will be missed. A funeral service for Bobby will be at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory Pleasanton Chapel. Burial will follow in Pleasanton Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be sent to Tri-Valley Developmental Services in care of the funeral home.
