Richard Sparks

Richard Dean Sparks, 59, of San Ramon California, died Monday, October 1, 2007 at the San Ramon Regional Hospital. He was born January 15, 1948 in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Guy Melbourne and Doris Jean Weatherbie Sparks. Richard worked as a systems manager for AT&T. He graduated from Fort Hays State University and served with the United States Air Force as a navigator. He was preceded in death by a brother, David Sparks. Survivors include his parents Guy Melbourne and Doris Jean Sparks, two brothers, Jeff Sparks & Robin and Brent Sparks, two nephews, Tyler and Trevor Sparks and his long-time friend and companion, Sue Mellow. Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, October 6, 2007 at the Blue Mound Federated Church, Blue Mound, Kansas. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:00 PM, Friday at the Coffel-Schneider Chapel, Mound City, Kansas. Contributions are suggested to the Linn County Historical Museum. Interment will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Blue Mound, Kansas.
