Richard Ken Simpson, age 64, Mound City, Kansas passed away Sunday June 16, 2013. He was born on September 18, 1948 the son of Kenneth and Maxine Davis Simpson at Blue Mound, Kansas. He graduated from Mound City High School in the Class of 1966. He married Carol Cosen. To this union, three children were born. He worked in maintenance at Kansas City Power and Light before retirement. Rich served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Mound City United Methodist Church, American Legion Hewitt- New Post #248, Patriot Guard. He founded the A.A. Group in Mound City and helped countless numbers in many ways. He was very supportive of all school activities. He attended ball games, plays and concerts. He did this for the local children as well as traveling to attend his grandchildren's events. Rich loved Elvis music and riding his Harley all over Linn County. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Kathy Jo Simpson. He is survived by two sons, Scott Simpson and Dan Simpson and wife Mandy, one daughter, Jacqualine Simpson Edwards, one brother Gary Simpson and wife Mary, a sister, Marlys Field and husband Max, seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral service will be held 10 AM Friday June 21, 2013 at the Mound City United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Woodland Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM Thursday at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Mound City Chapel. The family suggests contributions to A.
