Richard Cummings

Richard Wayne Cummings age 64 of Prescott, Kansas died Monday September 3, 2012 at the Mercy Hospital in Fort Scott, Kansas. He was born on December 2, 1947 at Newton, Kansas the son of Lester and Dolores Hamilton Cummings. He graduated from Sheldon High School in Sheldon, Missouri. He was a Veteran serving his country with the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He Married Joyce Peery on September 3, 1970. He was employed with the Linn County Road Crew as a heavy equipment operator, a member of the American Legion Hewitt New Post, the Linn County Fair Board, the V.F.W., the Heritage Union, and The Laborers Union # 1243. Richard was preceded in death by his father. Survivors include his wife Joyce of Prescott, Kansas a son Bill Cummings of Prescott, Kansas, his mother Dolores Cummings of Fort Scott, Kansas, a brother David Cummings of Mound City, Kansas two sisters; Janet White of Parker, Kansas and Judy Wilson of Uniontown, Kansas. There was cremation and a Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday September 6, 2012 at the Linn County 4 H Building in Mound City, Kansas. The family suggests contributions to the Richard Cummings Memorial Fund left in C/O the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory P.O. Box J Mound City, Kansas 66056.
