Raymond Johnson

November 17, 1924 — December 23, 2005

Raymond B. Johnson, age 81, formerly of Mound City, Kansas, died Friday December 23, 2005 at Villa St. Francis, Olathe, Kansas. He was born November 17, 1924 in Blue Mound, Kansas, the son of Marion and Viola (Ruby) Johnson. He graduated from Mound City High School and served in the United States Army in World War II. On December 19, 1948, Raymond married Dora Arlene Holt in Mound City. He was a farmer and also worked in the County Engineers Office for 32 years. He was a Methodist and a member of the American Legion Hewitt-New Post of Mound City. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; Thomas "Buck" Johnson and Charles Johnson and one sister, Dorothy Clearwater. Survivors include his wife, Arlene of the home; a son, Marion Johnson & wife, Vicki of Eudora, Kansas; a daughter, Theresa Kortemeyer & husband, Lee of Lenexa, Kansas; one brother, Edward Johnson of Mound City, Kansas; three sisters; Maxine Thomas of Pleasanton, Kansas, Edna Skinner of Spring Hill, Kansas and Ruth Maloney of Fort Scott, Kansas; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Services were held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, December 27, 2005 at the United Methodist Church, Mound City, Kansas. Interment will be in the Curry Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until service time at the church. Contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer's Foundation c/o the Coffel-Schneider Funeral Home, Box J, Mound City, KS 66056.
