Randall Frederick Key passed away on Friday December 23, 2011 at his home. He was born on April 2, 1946 in Los Angeles, CA to Frederick Albert Key and Marie Maxine Phillips Key. Randy attended all 12 years at Hume School--even then he was the cook for his class at basketball games, and he loved to dance at all the sock hops. He has kept many close ties with his classmates. Randy attended college at SMSU in Springfield, MO and Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, KS. He also graduated from Beauty School as a licensed beautician. After ROTC at Pittsburg, he quickly enlisted in the Army National Guard in 1970 where he enjoyed being chief cook. Again he kept in contact with many of his Army buddies throughout the years. For a short time Randy worked for Hartzfelds in Kansas City. His path of being a beautician led him into the merchandising world where he later owned a women's and a men's clothing store. More importantly, one of his customers became the love of his life, Sandra Lee Graham. On August 10, 1984, they were united in marriage at the Hume Christian Church making their home in Hume, MO. After his business venture, he worked as a dietician and head cook at the Prescott Country View Nursing Home in Prescott, KS. After 15 years of service at this occupation, Randy was forced to retire due to health complications. He spent the last four years taking care of his wife; cooking, baking, and making fudge for everyone; and piecing quilts. His phone kept him connected to numerous friends. Randy is preceded in death by his wife Sandra, his mother and father, and infant sister Rhonda Marie. He is survived by his sister Rhonda Headley (Dale) of Hume, MO and extended family and friends. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Tuesday December 27, 2011 at the Hume Christian Church. Burial will be in the Hume Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM Monday at the Schneider Funeral Home, Hume Chapel. The family suggests contributions to the Hume Community Christmas Lights, or the Randy Key Memorial Fund. On line condolences for the family can be left at www.schneiderfunerals.com. Arrangements: Schneider Funeral Home, Hume Chapel.
