Ralph Kastl

Ralph L. Kastl, age 82, Blue Mound, Kansas passed away Friday, September 2, 2016 at his home, doing what he loved, working in his yard. He was born on May 6, 1934 at Xenia, Kansas the son of Gus and Gertrude Flye Kastl. He graduated from Blue Mound High School in the Class of 1952. He married Carlene Horton on July 31, 1955 at the Blue Mound Federated Church. He worked at numerous jobs in his career. He drove a school bus, worked as a mechanic, drove a truck and then owned and operated Ralph''s Service along with his wife Carlene. Ralph was a very active member of the Blue Mound community. He was a member of the Federated Church, served on the volunteer fire department and was fire chief for several years, was a member of the city council and mayor of Blue Mound, helped organize the Blue Mound July 4th celebration, member of the Blue Mound Township Board, Masonic Lodge and Mirza Temple. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Don and Orien Kastl, a sister Olive Bailes and an infant sister. He is survived by his wife Carlene, two sons, Randy Kastl and wife Joyce, Tony Kastl and wife Kim, one daughter, Tammy Harvey and husband Marty, two sisters, Bonnie Johnson and Virginia Lanier, six grandchildren: Blake, Jacob, Laura, Marissa, Jayla and Shelley, seven great grandchildren: McKynley, Truman, Parker, Jamari, Jayce, Presley and Cora, and two on the way. Funeral services will be held at 11 am Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at the Blue Mound Federated Church. Burial will be in Sunny Slope Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 pm Monday, September 5, 2016 at the Schneider Funeral Home, Mound City Chapel.
