Ralph Elliott

Ralph Cavender Elliott was born on December 18, 1929 to Ralph R. and Arletta F. (Cavender) Elliott on the family''s farm in New Lancaster, KS. He attended Maple Grove Grade School, located across the street from the farm, where he met his wife, Ila M. Beckman (who declared on the 1st day of school when she was in 1st and he in 3rd grade that she was going to marry him). They married on July 17, 1949 in Paola, KS and together had three children, Martha F., Randy L., and Pamela J; six grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. He was a wonderful and loving husband, dad, and pawpaw that always had lots of fun with the little ones doing whatever they wanted. Ralph was a devoted employee of Phillips for 32 years. He moved around with Phillips until moving to Ohio in 1960, where he opened the terminal that he managed until it closed and he retired in 1986. After retiring Ralph and Ila moved to Hardy, AR where they built their dream home a log house where they lived until moving to Mound City, KS in 2002. Ralph is preceded in death by his parents; both of his brothers, Leonard and Donald; two of his children, Marty (John) Rose and Randy Elliott; a son-in-law, Bill (Pam) Rose; and a daughter-in-law, Cathy Elliott. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ila; daughter, Pam Rose; son-in-law, John Rose; six grandchildren - Stacey, Heidi, Randy Lynn, Janel, Brian, and Jesse; eleven great-grandchildren - Tyler, Stephanie, Riley, Johnathan, Morgyn, Austin, Kyle, Owen, Will, Ila, and Nolan; brother-in-law and best friend Charles Beckman and Sister Sarah; as well as numerous nieces and nephews; and many extended family members. Funeral service will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Mound City Chapel. Burial will be in the Miami Presbyterian Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM Tuesday at the Schneider Mound City Chapel. The family suggests contributions to: American Heart Association, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, or American Diabetes Foundation.
