Radford Linzy Barr, 84, of Mound City, Kansas, died Monday, March 29, 2010 at Mercy Health Center, Fort Scott, Kansas. He was born January 5, 1926 in Iberia, Missouri, the son of William and Cora Kelsey Barr. Radford served his country during World War II with the United States Army, receiving the Purple Heart. He was married to Bonnie Blankenship on February 7, 1947 at Iberia, Missouri. He worked as a clerk with the United States Postal service in Kansas City, Missouri and Prairie Village, Kansas. Radford was a member of the Hewitt-New American Legion Post #248 of Mound City, Kansas and the VFW and DAV in Kansas City, Missouri. He enjoyed gardening and fishing and loved spending time with his children and grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Kenneth Barr who died December 14, 1977, one brother, Basil and two sisters, Malone and Francis. Survivors include his wife, Bonnie of Mound City, Kansas; two sons; Dennis Barr and Chris of Prescott, Kansas and Gerald Barr and Theresa of Mound City, Kansas; one daughter, Carolyn Barr of Shawnee, Kansas; one brother, Kirsting Barr of Arnold, Missouri; one sister, Loetta Grady of St. Louis, Missouri; six grandchildren; Joushua, Jesse, Jay and Jacob Barr and Nathan and Josh Abbott and one great grandchild, Lexis Barr. Services will be held at 12:30 PM, Thursday, April 1, 2010 at the Coffel-Schneider Chapel, Pleasanton, Kansas. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:00 PM, Wednesday at the chapel. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Disabled American Veterans. Interment will be in the Fort Scott National Cemetery, Fort Scott, Kansas.
