Paul Long

Paul L. Long, age 88, passed away on Sunday November 7, 2010 at his home in Mound City, Kansas. He was born on June 20, 1922 in rural Miami County, Kansas the son of Donald and Edna LaRosh Long. He graduated from LaCygne High School in 1941. He was the father of six children. He was a farmer and also worked for many years in construction. He was a member of the Carpenters' Union , Masonic Lodge, LaCygne, Kansas and the Mound City Christian Church, formerly the Federated Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Robert Long, and a stepson David Smith. He married Loree Jones on June 13, 1981 at Mound City. He is survived by his wife Loree of the home, two sons, David Long (Gloria), Jimmie Long (Rosemary), of LaCygne, Kansas four daughters; Linda Andersen (Eddie), Marilyn Chandler (Jim), Janette Bennett (Danny) all of LaCygne area and Mendy Scott (Jim) of Fort Smith, Arkansas, three step children Gene Smith (Pam) of Pleasanton, Kansas, Kay Bowman (John) of Parker, Kansas and Shara Metzner (Tom) of Mound City, Kansas, one brother Don Long (Norma), two sisters, Ruth York and Carol Heald all of LaCygne, and numerous grand and great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Friday November 12, 2010 at the Mound City Christian Church. Burial will be in the New Lancaster Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8 PM Thursday at the Coffel-Schneider Chapel in Mound City, Kansas. The family suggests contributions to Hospice Care of Kansas.
