Mildred Estelle Smith, Age 93, passed away Friday - June 18, 2010 at the Residencies of Pleasanton assisted living facility, after a period of declining health. She was born July 15, 1916 to Waldo & Ferne Lambert Snider in Linn County, Kansas, Mildred lived in Linn County, Kansas all her life, attending Mound City High School, and graduating from Pleasanton High School in 1933. In 1934 Mildred married Charles (Scotty) Smith; having two children, Patsy Ann and James David Smith. Mildred worked at Saunders Market, Cox Motor Company, and the Bank of Pleasanton, until her official retirement in 1990. She was a lifelong member of Eastern Star and a member of the Pleasanton Presbyterian Church. She enjoying reading, bridge, poker, and traveling in her later years. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, Waldo and Ferne (Lambert) Snider, and her husband, Charles Smith. She is survived by her children, Patsy Smith of Pleasanton, Kansas and James D. Smith of Excelsior Springs, Missouri; Four grandchildren and their spouses: Troy Smith and wife Hesper Smith of Holt, Missouri; Michelle Reed and husband Shawn Reed of Kearney, Missouri; Eric Smith and wife Jill Smith of Lawrence, Kansas; Cherie Chen and James Chen of Olathe, Kansas. She has eleven great-grandchildren: Alex and Haley Smith, Alison, Lauren, and Collin Reed; Meghan, Mason, Morgan, and Myles Smith, Austin and Lily Chen. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, June 21,2010 at the Presbyterian Church in Pleasanton, Kansas. A private family interment will be held at the Pleasanton Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Coffel-Schneider Funeral Home, Pleasanton, Kansas.
