Mike Burk

Michael Wade "Mike" Burk, 54, of Mapleton, Kansas, died Sunday, March 6, 2011 at his home. He was born September 17, 1956 in Osawatomie, Kansas, the son of Henry & Cletis Snyder Burk. Mike was employed with Page Construction and also worked as a security guard at Hidden Valley Lakes. He married Theresa Higginbotham on October 7, 1977. He loved fishing, hunting, NASCAR and he and Theresa were adopted parents to numerous children. He is survived by his wife, Theresa of the home; five sons; Brian Burk and Sonya of Springfield, Missouri; Steven Anderson and Natasha of Houston, Texas, Jeff Burk and Christa of Fort Scott, Kansas, Travis Burk and Christy of Blue Mound, Kansas and John Harrington and Gay of Pleasanton, Kansas; one daughter, Tammi Conner and Scott of Centerville, Kansas; three brothers, Thomas, Darrell and James Burk, one sister, Hazel Howard; twenty grandchildren and one great grandchild. Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at the Coffel-Schneider Chapel, Pleasanton, Kansas. Visitation will be 5-7 PM, Tuesday at the Chapel. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Mike Burk Memorial Fund c/o of the funeral home. Interment will be in the Holmes Cemetery, Prescott, Kansas.
