Melvin R. Lounsbury, age 86, Independence, Missouri passed away Sunday, September 27, 2015. He was born at Prescott, Kansas on August 22, 1929 the son of Ray and Marie Ellen Holmes Lounsbury. He graduated from Hume High School. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was married to Sarah Mae Arnold. She preceded him in death on November 1, 1987. He worked as a truck driver for Union 76 and later Chevron. He was a member of the Mt. Washington Masonic Lodge. Melvin was also preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Harold Norbury, and three sisters: Mary Standish, Freda Norbury and Fern Melchert. He is survived by a son Steven Lounsbury and a daughter Joyce Adams and husband Russ and two grandsons, Seth and Jaret Adams. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, October 3, 2015 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Pleasanton Chapel. Burial will be in the Littell Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to service time at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to Wayside Waifs. On line condolences for the family can be left at www.schneider.com.
