Melvin Akers

Melvin Cecil Akers, 79, of Mound City, Kansas, died Sunday, May 13, 2007 at Mercy Hospital, Fort Scott, Kansas. He was born June 13, 1927 in Linnville, Kansas, the son of Joel Lester and Mabel Mattie Self Akers. Melvin worked as a surveyor for REA when it was formed in Linn County, Kansas. He was also self employed as a farmer and mechanic. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Vernon and Edward Akers, a sister, Dorothy and a nephew, Frank Akers. Survivors include a nephew, Michael Akers & wife, Carol and their daughters, Azya and Athena, of Ocean Side, California and nieces, Morgan and Angie Akers of West Plains, Missouri. Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at the Linnville School House, Mound City, Kansas. Burial will be in Linnville Cemetery, Mound City.
