Matthew Michael Johnson, 28, of Manhattan, Kansas, formerly of Mound City, Kansas, died Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at Stormont Vail Hospital, Topeka, Kansas. He was born October 17, 1979 in Fort Scott, Kansas, the son of Michael and Mary Malmgren Johnson. He graduated from Jayhawk Linn High School and attended Fort Scott Community College and Kansas State University. He was employed as a truck driver for Nelson Farms. Matthew was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Mound City, Kansas. He loved to farm and enjoyed hunting. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Joanna Johnson, maternal grandparents, Leslie and Mary Etta Malmgren; and an infant brother, Morgan Andrew Johnson. Survivors include his parents; Mike and Mary Johnson of Mound City, Kansas; one brother, Marcus Johnson & Sarah of Larned, Kansas; five sisters, Michaela Barrett & Ryan of Marionville, Missouri; Myra Johnson of Lenexa, Kansas; Megan Harris & Matt of Louisburg, Kansas and Marinda and Monica Johnson, both of Manhattan, Kansas; his paternal grandfather, John Johnson and one niece, Reese. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, February 4, 2008 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Mound City, Kansas. A prayer service will be held at 5:00 PM, Sunday at the church. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:00 PM, Sunday at the Catholic Church Hall in Mound City. Contributions are suggested to the Matthew Johnson FFA Scholarship Fund. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Mound City, Kansas.
