Mary Eva Sentel Akers, 87, of Prescott, Kansas, died Monday, February 27, 2006 at Mercy Health Center, Fort Scott, Kansas. She was born October 13, 1918 in Sullivan, Illinois, the daughter of Anthony and Anna Hengst Burgholzer. She graduated from Sullivan High School in 1936. On March 12, 1938, she was united in marriage to Elmer Sentel. He preceded her in death in April, 1980. She then married Perry Akers in 1986 and he also preceded her in death in September, 1987. She worked as a store clerk at Index 5&10 cent store in Sullivan, Illinois. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Sullivan. She was preceded also by her parents and one brother, Emil Burgholzer. Survivors include three daughters, Louise (Bernard) Williams of North Fort Myers, Florida, Elaine (Jerry) Unruh of Prescott, Kansas and Margaret (Joseph) England of Mackinaw, Illinois. Also surviving are step-children, Carol Hundley of Milan, Michigan, James Akers of Bellevue, Michigan, Larry Akers of Atlanta, Georgia and Glenn Akers of Van Alstyn, Texas; four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, March 4, 2006 at Reed Mortuary, Sullivan, Illinois. Visitation will be 6:30 to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, March 1, 2006 at the Coffel-Schneider Chapel, Pleasanton, Kansas. A visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8:00 PM on Friday at the Reed Mortuary, Sullivan, Illinois. Contributions are suggested to the Prescott Country View Nursing Home, Sullivan United Methodist Church or to donor's choice. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Sullivan, Illinois.
