Margie A. Flanery Walter, age 73, died Friday Ocotber 29, 2010 at the Life Care Center of Osawatomie, Kansas. She was born June 14, 1937 on a farm north of Bucyrus, Kansas to A.T. and Gertrude Portwood Flanery. She has lived within the surrounding area all of her life. She attended one room schools and graduated from Stilwell in 1954. She worked for Bendix Corporation, Seaboard Allied and retired from Laidlaw , driving a school bus for the Blue Valley School District for thirteen years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Stilwell, Kansas. She then transferred membership to Calvary Baptist in LaCygne, Kansas. Margie will always be remembered for playing the piano and organ. She met Robert Walter fromMt Ayr, Iowa. The couple met in Ft Riley, Kansas. They were married October 27, 1957. They enjoyed fifty three years together. She was preceded in death by a son, Gregory, her parents, two sisters and one brother. She is survived by her husband Robert Walter of Osawatomie, three daughters, Pam Ward of Grandview, Missouri, Vicky Walter of Merriam, Kansas and Linda Walter of St Joseph, Missouri, nine grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. Funeral service will be held 1 PM Monday November 1, 2010 at the Coffel-Schneider Chapel in LaCygne, Kansas. Burial will be in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 PM Sunday October 31, 2010 at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the LaCygne Library District #2.
