Lorene McCollam, 83 of Blue Mound, Kansas passed away, Tuesday January 30, 2007 at the Olathe Medical Center surrounded by her 3 daughters. Lorene was born April 25, 1923 in Selma, Kansas to Ray and Stella (Powls) Miller. She attended Cemetery Country School and graduated from the Kincaid High School. She married Carl Franklin McCollam August 30, 1942 in Mapleton, Kansas. Carl and Lorene spent most of their lives in the Mapleton and Blue Mound areas and had three daughters: Carlene, Joyce and Judy. When not tending to her family, Lorene was a cook at a school, owned a restaurant in Blue Mound and provided child care for several families in the area. Lorene was known for her cooking. Family and Friends all have a favorite meal of Lorene's whether it was her biscuits and gravy, tacos, mashed potatoes or her oatmeal strawberry jam cookies. She was preceded in death by husband Carl in 2001 and brother Don Miller. She is survived by Daughters; Carlene Brownback of Centerville, Joyce West and husband Willis of Cleveland, Missouri & Judy Maus and husband Ron of Schell City, Missouri, 3 sisters; Nada Guffey and husband Jim of Chanute, Kansas; Letha Spillman of Blue Mound and Yvonne and husband Dennie of Wichita. Grandchildren; Keith Brownback (Tammy) of Centerville, children Brett and Kaylee Jan Kellerman (George) of Centerville, children Garrett & Sara James, Taylor, Matthew & Abby Kellerman Kimberly West-Robb (Jeff) of Lee Summit, Missouri, daughters Taylor and McKinley Stacey Marcum (Jim) of Overland Park, Kansas, sons, Derek, Devin, Grant & Gabe Kyle West of San Diego, California, Lisa Thackery (Doug) of Prairie Village, Kansas, son Sam Clinton Williams (Robin) of Belton, Missouri, daughter Jacey Services will be held at the Mapleton Community of Christ Church at 11:00 AM Saturday February 3, 2007. Burial will be in the Mapleton, Kansas Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8:00 PM Friday at the Coffel Schneider Funeral Home in Mound City, Kansas.
