Lela Gene Hinkle, age 88, of Fort Scott, Kansas died Tuesday May 17, 2011 at the Fort Scott Mercy Health Center in Fort Scott, Kansas. She was born on September 6, 1922 at Mapleton, Kansas the daughter of Clarence and Gladys Weaver Brown. She was a graduate of Blue Mound High School. She married Pete Hinkle, he preceded her in death. She worked as a manager for a Singer sewing machine store. Lela loved to sew and was very proud of her beautiful hair. Also preceding her in death were her parents, and three brothers; Cy, Milton, and Charles Brown. She is survived by a sister in-law Mary E. Brown, three nephews Steve, Howard, and Mike Brown and their families, and two nieces; Roberta Willis, and Leta Ann Webber and their families. Per Lela's wishes she was cremated and a family private service will be held at a later date. The family suggests contributions to the charity of one's choice in c/o Coffel-Schneider Funeral Home P.O. box J Mound City, Kansas 66056.
