Lawrence Arnold Niemeyer, 72, of Pleasanton, Kansas died Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at his home. He was born December 21, 1936 in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Arnold and Martha Shroeter Niemeyer. He was employedas a pattern maker for American Steele, then Century Pattern and later John Deere, retiring from John Deere. He was a member of the Pattern Makers Union, Black Hawk County Iowa Volunteer Sheriff's Deputy and Isaac Walton. He married Loretta Dawson on October 11, 1958 in St. Louis Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Eugenia Arban and Margie Ruth Niemeyer. Survivors include his wife, Loretta of the home; two daughters; Susan Lozano & Clarence of Coralville, Iowa and Sherry Stefan & Steven of Louisburg, Kansas; one sister, Vera Wachowski; four grandchildren, Jason & Andy Lozano and Ambrose and Nicholas Stefan. Per Mr. Niemeyer's request his body was willed to science. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Hospice of Kansas.
