Larry M. Empson, age 74, of Pleasanton, Kansas died Sunday July 12, 2009 at the Louisburg Care Center. He was born on March 23, 1935 at Concordia, Kansas the son of Jesse and Florence Mottin Empson. He was an Army Veteran. He married Joan Robbins on November 26, 1983. He worked for General Motors and was a member of the United Auto Workers Local # 93. He was also a member of the Wall Street Christian Church and enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and woodworking. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: Guane, Keith and Marion Empson, and one sister, Melva Ross. He is survived by his wife Joan of the home, two sons, Larry John Empson of Grandview, Missouri and Martin Dale Empson of Marshall, Minnesota, one daughter, Carletta Empson of Garden City, Missouri, two step daughters, Crystle Martin of Guys, Tennessee and Robin Jezek of Lee's Summit, Missouri, two brothers, Bob and Rex Empson, two sisters, Leatrice Peterson and Carol Sue Gragg, thirteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 9 AM Wednesday July 15, 2009 at the Coffel-Schneider Funeral Home in LaCygne, Kansas. Burial will be in the Brooklyn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday at the Coffel-Schneider Funeral Home, LaCygne. The family suggests contributions to the American Diabetes Foundation.
