Kenneth Melvin Landers, 84, of Pleasanton, Kansas, died Monday, August 8, 2005 at Mercy Health Center, Fort Scott, Kansas. He was born June 22, 1921 in Mound City, Kansas, the son of Melvin and Ada Smith Landers. Kenneth was a veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Army. He was a member of American Legion of Prescott, Arizona; VFW of Parker, Arizona and the Eureka Lodge AF&AM, Pleasanton, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Cecil Landers. Survivors include one son, Donald Landers of Lakewood, California; one daughter, Diane Frates of Los Alamitos, California; one brother, Virgil Landers of Merced, California and two grandchildren; Lauren and Erik Frates. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, August 10, 2005 at the Pleasanton Cemetery. Contributions are suggested to the Pleasanton Cemetery Association. Arrangements are under the direction of the Coffel-Schneider Funeral Home, Pleasanton, Kansas.
