June Hemphill

June Elizabeth Hemphill 89, passed on March 8, 2015 of natural causes in the home of her daughter in Round Rock TX. Daughter of Orie and Pearl Zimmerman, sister to Fern Heckert , June was born and raised in Mound City Kansas. After graduating from Mound City High School in 1942 she then attended Ottawa University. Married to Jack Hemphill of Joplin Mo. in 1946 they made their first home in Joplin Mo and lived on both the East and West Coast during their marriage. Mother to Son Craig Hemphill of Salinas Ca. and daughter Kelly Hemphill of Round Rock TX. June was grand mother to Craig''s sons Austin and Andrew Hemphill and daughter Jessica Swart. Great grand mother to Austin''s two daughters, Sophie and Heidi. June was anticipating the coming birth of Jessica''s first child due this Aug. June was a daughter, sister, wife , mother, grand mother and great grand mother. She was an accomplished hostess and generously donated her time and funds to various charities.June requested to be laid to rest in Mound City, the place of her birth and fondest childhood memories. Beyond her earthly travels around the world and her exciting life of hosting world dignitaries and celebrities, this self professed farm girl was a Christian and loyal servant to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Graveside memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at the Woodland Cemetery in Mound City, Kansas. Visitation will after the service from 2:30 p.m. until 4 p.m. at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Mound City Chapel.
