John Thomas Slater, age 51, Pleasanton, Kansas passed away on Sunday April 20, 2014. He was born on February 8, 1963 at Fort Scott, Kansas the son of Paul and Barbara Thomas Slater. He married Linda Probasco on August 8, 1986. She preceded him in death on March 23, 2010. He later married Michelle Staton on April 6, 2013. Jon worked as a welder for SPX Cooling Technologies. He was a gun enthusiast and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was also preceded in death by a brother Rod Slater. He is survived by his wife Michelle of the home, their combined children: Rodney Slater of Joplin, Missouri, Christopher Slater of Jackson, Missouri, Nick Talley of Lawrence, Kansas, Samantha Staton of Pittsburg, Kansas and Henry Talley of the home; sister Jane Huntley, and grandchildren, Luke and Alexandra. Funeral service will be held 11 AM Friday April 25, 2014 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Pleasanton Chapel. Burial in the Pleasanton Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM Thursday at the Chapel. The family suggests contributions to the Bob Morgan Memorial Scholarship Fund.
