John Ramsey

John Lloyd Ramsey, 72, of Pleasanton, Kansas, died Thursday, November 1, 2007 at his home. He was born March 2, 1935 in Fort Scott, Kansas, the son of Lloyd E. and Mae Elizabeth Babbitt Ramsey. He married Beverly Phillips on June 3, 1952 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. She preceded him in death on August 26, 2002. John was employed as a heavy equipment operator with Reno and Apac and was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers #101. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving with the United States Navy. John was preceded in death also by a son, Johnnie Darrell Ramsey who died April 14, 1994 and two infant sons, Gary Lee and Ricky Lynn and a brother, Howard Ramsey. Survivors include his daughter, Jeanette L. Ramsey Marrs of Fort Scott, Kansas; two sisters, Rosalea Donaldson and Anita Kay McSwain; four grandchildren, Reality, Melissa, Sunshine and Jonathan and several great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, November 6, 2007 at the Uniontown Cemetery, Uniontown, Kansas. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:00 PM, Monday at the Coffel-Schneider Chapel, Pleasanton, Kansas. Contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
