John Mcwilliam

John "Edwin" McWilliam, age 89, Pleasanton, Kansas died Saturday October 30, 2010 at the Residencies in Pleasanton. He was born on the home farm near Pleasanton on December 29, 1920 the son of John and Mabel Shaw McWilliam. He married Imogene Arnold on October 14, 1943 at Pleasanton, Kansas. She preceded him in death. Edwin worked as a farmer and a rancher his entire life. He was a member of the First Christian Church, Pleasanton where he served as an elder. He was a member of the American Hereford Association, State Farm Bureau holding leader of the year for the southeast district for two years. He served on the Linn County Fair Board for 50 years and also served on the Kansas State Fair Board for 14 years and was chosen to be in Kansas Fair Hall of Fame. Edwin served on the Christian Hills Youth Camp and helped organize Linn County Rural Water District # 2. Also preceding Edwin was a grandson John McWilliam, a sister Grace McWilliam Adams, two sisters in law, Margaret Kelley and June Callow. He is survived by his son Roger McWilliam and Karen of Fulton, Kansas, brother in laws, Jerry Arnold and Katherine of Nevada, Missouri, Jimmie Arnold and Marite, of Merritt Island, Florida and Charles Arnold and Audrey of Panama City, Florida, a sister in law Kay Gray and James of Grove, Oklahoma, one granddaughter Kim McWilliam Ries and John Ries of Blue Springs, and four great grandchildren, McKinzie, Wyatt, Jerry and C.J.all of Amoret, Missouri, and a very special friend Edna Winters. Funeral service will be held 11 AM Wednesday November 3, 2010 at the Coffel-Schneider Chapel in Pleasanton, Kansas. Burial will be in the Pleasanton Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to Alzheimer's Association or the Pleasanton Christian Church in care of Coffel-Schneider.
