Joe Gary Jones Joe Gary Jones, age 62, of Pleasanton, Kansas. passed away on Sunday, December 6, 2009 after a 2 year struggle with cancer, Joe was born November 23, 1947 in Kansas City, Missouri, the third child born to Harry Delbert Jones and Thelma Adalene Larson. He was married to Vicki Callia in 1967 and two children, Jeff and Kristine, were born of this union. Joe married Diane Hubbard in June 1997. They spent many happy years together on their farm, enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. Joe loved building things, working around the farm, going to auctions and was a great all-around handyman who could accomplish anything he tackled. Joe had a kind and gentle heart and will be greatly missed. Joe was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army and the Army Reserves from 1966 to 1972. He served as a chemical specialist when he was on active duty in Germany in 1971-1972. He was a lifelong pressman in the printing trade. He worked at Burns Printing in Olathe for many years until May 2009 when he ceased working due to health problems. He had been a member of GCIU Local #235. Joe was a member of West Liberty United Methodist Church of Fulton, Kansas and an active member of the Democratic Party. Joe is survived by his wife Diane of the home, son Jeff Jones of Independence, Missouri ., daughter, Kristine Brown of Garland, Texas , step-daughter Annette and husband Jimmy Little of Shawnee,Kansas , step-daughter Michelle and husband Tim McElderry of Zionsville, Indiana , and a sister Jan Jones of California, eight grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Joe was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Harry Jr. and Dennis Jones, and sister-in-law Peggy Jones. A memorial service will be held at 6:30 PM Thursday December 10, 2009 at the Mount Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home 10507 Holmes Rd Kansas City Missouri with a visitation to follow until 8 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Harvesters Community Food Network, and may be left in care of the Coffel-Schneider Funeral Home P.O.
