James H. "Jim" Jones, 72, of Pleasanton, Kansas, died Thursday, January 13, 2011. He was born January 2, 1939 at Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Garland W. and Marguerite Gillapp Jones. Jim married Patricia Sutterby on May 30, 1957. He worked for Milgram Food stores for 20 years and John Hancock and American Family Insurance. Most recently he was manager of Mangold's Market at LaCygne, Kansas and Butler, Missouri, prior to his retirement. Jim was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Pleasanton and Scottish Rite. He was an avid checker player, having taught all his grandchildren and beating most of them at the game. He also loved fishing for catfish on the Marais de Cygnes and enjoyed playing games on the computer. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Garland and Kenneth and one sister, Betty Pebley. Survivors include his wife, Patty of the home; three daughters, Shelly Howell & Stacy of Camdenton, Missouri; Sherry Shackles & David of Lee's Summit, Missouri, and Shirley LeVota Fleming of Pleasanton, Kansas; one brother, Charles Jones & Ann of Lincoln, Missouri; two sisters, Helen Carothers & John of Lincoln, Missouri, and Sandy Shepard of Derby, Kansas; nine grandchildren, Stacey, Scott,Megan, Lauren, jessica, Katie, Chace, Phil & Greg and three great grandchildren, Elijah, Micaiah & Rhett. A celebration of Jim's life will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 22, 2011 at the Coffel-Schneider Chapel, Pleasanton, Kansas. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until service time. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Toy Express c/o the funeral home. Inurnment will be in the Pleasanton Cemetery. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.coffelschneider.com
