Gerald Orville "Jerry" Sampel, age 66, of Linn Valley, Kansas died Friday March 20, 2009 at his home after a long illness. He was born on December 5, 1942 at Kansas City, Missouri the son of Clyde and Elva French Sampel. He graduated from Wyandotte High School. He married Nancy Shelton on November 16, 1963 at Kansas City, Kansas. Jerry worked for the Kansas City, Kansas Board of Public Utilities and retired with thirty three years of service. He was a member of the Machinist's and Electrical Workers Unions. He and Nancy moved to Linn Valley establishing their home in 1998. He was preceded in death by his father Clyde, a son Bryan, and a brother Everett. He is survived by his wife Nancy of the home, his mother Elva Sampel of Kansas City, Kansas, one son Jerry Sampel of Riverside, California; two daughters, Carolyn Sampel of Linn Valley, and Tiffany Lopez of Kansas City, Kansas; a twin brother Larry Sampel of Kansas City, Missouri; two sisters, Judy McClellan of Palm City, Florida and Suze Benson of Seabrook, Texas, and ten grand and great grand children. Memorial visitation will be held from 3 to 5 PM Sunday March 22 at the Coffel-Schneider Funeral Home in LaCygne, Kansas. The family suggests contributions to Hospice Care of Kansas.
