Jerold Lee "Jerry" Ewing, Blue Mound, Kansas passed away Sunday December 12, 2010 after a long battle with cancer. Jerry was born June 5, 1942 in Iola, Kansas the son of Samuel and Lucille Gambill Ewing. He graduated from Blue Mound High School in 1960. He married Nancy Laird on February 18, 1965. Jerry loved cattle, and lived his life as a farmer, rancher and oil man in the Blue Mound area. He enjoyed classic cars and traditional country music. He was a member of the Centerville Community Church, Blue Mound Masonic Lodge, Fort Scott Scottish Rite and the Mirza Shrine. Jerry treasured his family and its traditions; from Fourth of July fireworks to the Kincaid Fair to the magic of Christmas Eve. He is survived by his wife Nancy Ewing; two daughters, Tara Ewing Walrod and husband Jason, and Janel Ewing Leitch and husband Mike; sister Joyce Barmby, and five grandchildren: Piper Leitch, Reece Walrod, Campbell Leitch, Sullivan Leitch and Saylor Leitch. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Wednesday December 15, 2010 at the Centerville Community Church. Burial will be in the Sunny Slope Cemetery, Blue Mound. The family suggests contributions to the Centerville Community Church or the Mapleton Community Arena in care of Coffel-Schneider Funeral Home, P.O. Box J, Mound City, Kansas 66056.
