Jerald Simons

Jerald Ray Simons, age 72, Mound City, Kansas died November 28, 2009. He was born on October 29, 1937 at Arcadia, Kansas the son of Ora and Nellie Reynolds Simons. He married Lois Jennings on October 21, 1956. During his working days, Jerald owned and operated Mound City Vault Company, Simons Backhoe Service and was the caretaker of the Mound City Cemeteries. He and Lois enjoyed their grandkids, attending shows at Rutladers and traveling to Arizona and California to see family. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Emma Grass, Mary Wheeler, and Ruthie Simons, one brother, Robert Simons, a son in law John Kennedy and grandson Brant Beckman. Jerald is survived by one daughter Sharon Kennedy-Beckman and Rande of Mound City, sons Jimmy Dale Simons and Linda, David Ray Simons and Virginia, and Marc Ora Simons and Cinda all of Mound City, grandchildren: Christina Chapman and Darick, Ashley Wadel and Jeremy, Jared Kennedy and Kayla, Grant Simons, Heather Simons, Allison Simons, Matthew Simons, Megan Smith and Drew, Kristin Simons, Samantha Simons, Blane Simons, and Brayton Beckman, and great grandchildren Rees Chapman and Ashlyn Smith. Also surviving are siblings, Susie Gates of Wildomar, California, Betty Wright of Hollister, Missouri, Alice Rubio of Yucca Valley, California, Pearl Bacon of Jennings, Oklahoma, June Lenox of Plato, Missouri and Lester Simons of Joplin, Missouri. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Wednesday December 2, 2009 at the Coffel-Schneider Chapel in Mound City. Burial will be in the Curry Cemetery near Mound City.
