Jean Ross

Jean Marie Ross, 82, of Blue Mound, Kansas, died Sunday, December 27, 2009 at Centerpoint Medical Center, Independence, Missouri. She was born September 13, 1927 in Portland, Oregon, the daughter of Robert and Margaret VanNatta Coffelt. She graduated from Corvallis High School with the class of 1945. She married John Cahill in 1945 and to this union two children were born; John Cahill Jr. and Janice Marguerite Cahill. She later married Marion Kenneth Ross in 1951 at Tacoma, Washington. He preceded her in death on February 18, 1996. Jean was employed as a waitress, worked as a nurse's aid in the nursing home and was engaged in farming and dairy farming prior to her retirement. She attended the Wall Street Church. Jean enjoyed crocheting and card playing. She was preceded in death also by her parents; her daughter, Janice Cahill and one brother, Ken Waring. Survivors include one son, John P. Cahill & Arleta of Independence, Missouri, a step-daughter, Jackie Evans of Crossroads, Arkansas; six grandchildren; several great grandchildren and her long-time friend and companion, Wheeler Cortner. Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at the Coffel-Schneider Chapel, Mound City, Kansas. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until service time at the chapel. Contributions are suggested to the Wall Street Church. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Mildred, Kansas.
