Janice Wood

Janice Jo Wood, 57, Prescott, Kansas died March 16, 2007 at Mercy Health Center in Fort Scott, Kansas. She was born November 18, 1949 in Walnut, Kansas the daughter of Edward and Georgetta Tobaben Thiesing. She graduated from Girard High School. She married Gary Wood on October 17, 1970. Jan worked at Great Western Insurance, Commercial Pipeline, Greeley Gas and finally Atmos Energy. She was a member of the Prescott United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir. She served on the Coal Center Days Committee and was a member of the gold Wing Road Riders Association Chapter M. She was preceded in death by her father and two sisters: Karen Reed and Margaret Mangette. She is survived by her mother Georgetta Thiesing of Walnut, husband Gary of Prescott, son Jeff Wood and Linda of Topeka, Kansas, daughter Angie Williams and Jim of Des Moines, Iowa, sisters Beverly Gorman of Prescott, Claudette Espinosa of Wagner, Oklahoma and Kay Lohuis of Walnut, Kansas, four grandchildren Kelsi Wood and Sara, Lindsey and Ryon Williams and six great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Tuesday March 20, 2007 at the Prescott United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Prescott Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8 PM Monday at the Coffel-Schneider Funeral Home in Pleasanton, Kansas. Contributions can be made to the Prescott United Methodist Church or the Hope House.
