James Johnson

James Edward "Ed" Johnson, age 78, Mound City, Kansas passed away Monday May 12, 2014. He was born on May 30, 1935 at Blue Mound, Kansas the son of Marion R. and Viola Ruby Johnson. He graduated from Mound City High School. He was united in marriage to Ruth Bland on October 15, 1955 at Mound City. He worked as a farmer, Moto Power Filling Station, Peerless Products, and other occupations before retiring. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: Buck, Raymond, and Charles Johnson; three sisters: Maxine Thomas, Dorothy Clearwater, and Ruth Maloney. Ed was a charter member of the Pleasanton Church of the Nazarene, served on the Church Board and Sunday School Superintendent. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and craft shows. He liked sports and was a KU, Royals and Chiefs fan. He is survived by his wife Ruth, two sons, Randy Johnson and Gayla, Jim Johnson and wife Joy, Viola Libick and husband Keith, Sandra Rider and husband Mike, and Nancy Zehr and husband Randy; one sister, Edna Skinner, eleven grandchildren, several great grandchildren and many extended family members. Memorial service will be held 11 AM Friday, May 16, 2014 at the Pleasanton Church of the Nazarene. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM Thursday at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Mound City Chapel. Interment of cremated remains will be in the Wesley Chapel Cemetery.
