J. Elliott Sears, 81, of Pleasanton, Kansas, died Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at Mercy Health Center, Fort Scott, Kansas. He was born May 1, 1923 in Elgin, Illinois, the son of Elliott C. and Hazel Avery Sears. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the United States Navy. He married Carole Crews on November 27, 1971 at Harvard, Illinois. He was employed as an electrician and was a member of the Electricians Union Local #365. He was also a member of the VFW, Pleasanton; the American Legion and Royal Order of Moose. Survivors include his wife, Carole, Pleasanton, Kansas; one son, John E. Sears; one daughter, Sara; two step-daughters, Stephanie Savage and Kimberly Brubaker; two brothers, Theron and David Sears; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. At his request, Mr. Sears was cremated. A private family gathering will be at a later date. The family has suggested contributions to "The Seeing Eye" c/o the funeral home.
