Iva Lear, age 100, of Amsterdam, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Willow Lane Nursing Center, Butler, Missouri. Iva was born May 20, 1913 in Benton County, Missouri to William Isaac and Evy Parlee (Reneau) Johnson. On October 4, 1930 she married James Eugene Lear at Sedalia, Missouri. They moved to Amsterdam in 1935. Iva spent most of her life on her farm outside Amsterdam faithfully serving her family, friends, community and church. She was a role model and inspiration for all those who were blessed to know her. Iva was preceded in death by her husband, James Lear and one son, Richard Lear. Survivors include three children, James Lear and wife Eleanor of Overland Park, KS, Robert Lear of Whittier, CA, and Dorothy Evans of Kansas City, MO; eight grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, one great-great grandson, and one brother, Glen Johnson. Visitation is 10:00 am to 11:00 am Friday, May 23, 2014 at Amsterdam United Methodist Church with the funeral immediately following at 11:00 am. Iva will be laid to rest in Oak Hill Cemetery, Butler, MO. The family expresses their thanks to the Staff of Willow Lane Nursing Center and Heartland Hospice. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Heartland Hospice, 612 W. Ft. Scott Street, Butler, MO 64730. Arrangements are under the direction of Schneider Funeral Homes and Crematory, La Cygne, Kansas. Online condolences may be left at www.schneiderfunerals.com.
