Iva Dancy

Iva "Jane" Dancy, 100, of Prescott, Kansas, died Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at Prescott Country View Nursing Home. She was born February 27, 1912 in Wheatland, Missouri, the daughter of William Sterling and Frances Elizabeth Robinson Jones. She married Newell Ireland in 1929. He preceded her in death in 1937. She later married Robert Neal Dancy in 1939. He also preceded her in death January of 1975. Jane owned and operated the Cedar Hill Café in Ocie, Missouri and had also worked as a CNA and cook at the Pleasant View Manor Nursing Home. She was a member of the Bykota Southern Baptist Church of Pleasanton, the Salem Baptist Church in Ocie, Missouri; the Order of Eastern Star of Theodosia, Missouri where she served as worthy matron and chaplain. Jane loved quilting, crocheting, gardening and canning and enjoyed her family gatherings and cooking for her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death also by a son, Robert Newell Ireland who died in Vietnam in 1970; two daughters, Frances Thompson and Dora Lee Haltom; three brothers, Samuel, Tom and Elijah Jones and two sisters, Evie Baumgarden and Mae Corum. Survivors include sons; Allan Dancy and Barbara of Lee's Summit, Missouri, James Dancy and Chris of Squires, Missouri and Joe Dancy and Sue of Pleasanton, Kansas; three daughters; Geneva High and Eldon of Lee's Summit, Missouri, Karen Stewart and Robert of Fulton, Kansas, and Vicki Leonard and Darryl of Pleasanton, Kansas; 120 grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren and also many nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, February 9, 2013 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Pleasanton Chapel. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM to service time at the chapel. Graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, February 11, 2013 at the Lutie Cemetery, Theodosia, Missouri. Memorial contributions are suggested to Prescott Country View Nursing Home, c/o the funeral home.
