Herman Waldmer, 86, of Aurora, Missouri died Thursday, November 18, 2010 at Cox South Hospital, Springfield, Missouri. He was born March 7, 1924 in Brooklyn, New York, the son of Jacob and Mary Russul Waldmer. At an early age he, his parents and two brothers, spent some time in Latvia, visiting their grandparents. He graduated from Manhattan High School of He is a veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy Air Force Division. On his way to China his unit stopped at Olathe Navy Airbase where he met and married Dorothy Croan. They had 64 years together. Wally spent a large part of his life working for the Boeing Aircraft Company, the Martin Company on missile bases and retired from the US Government in the Defense Department. He was a member of the Elm Branch Christian Church in Aurora, Missouri. He enjoyed bible studies and remained active in all the church activities until his health failed. Due to his health issues,he spent the past year in the Aurora Nursing Home where he received excellent care. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Edwin, stepbrother Donald and son, Herman Jr. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy of the home, one brother, Harry of Aurora, Missouri, three sons, John of Mound City, Kansas, Michael and wife, Kathy of Verona, Missouri and Bruce & wife, Cheryl of Conway, Arkansas; one daughter, Pamela Waldmer of Aurora, Missouri; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 11:30 AM, Saturday, November 20, 2010 at the Curry Cemetery, Mound City, Kansas.
